Fighting God

In my own mind and heart, in my default state, my own flesh faces darkness, feels overwhelmed with sadness, carries heavy burdens, walks alone, has no room for hope, and becomes easily overcome by evil.

There is no good in me naturally. Even if I had days where I just naturally felt like a “good” person, like I was having a good day, nothing in me is actually good and perfect and light. (Ecclesiastes 7:20; Romans 3:19-20; Luke 18:19)

But when I put my heart in a position of praise,
when I open my mind to the saving words of the Creator,
when I create the space for His presence to take over my being,
when I allow myself to release what I think I know and lean into all that He is,
when I give Him my mind, my day, my heart, my ideas, my dreams, and my plans, things change.

I can’t explain it.

My natural inclination is always burdensome.
And maybe your natural state isn’t, maybe your natural person is simply
confused,
lonely,
always angry,
insecure,
prideful,
arrogant,
jealous,
or aloof.
Maybe you don’t see an evil in your natural person.

However, we ALL fall short, we ALL fail, NONE of us in ourselves is enough; we are ALL missing something. (Romans 3:23-24; Ecclesiastes 3:11)

And I just wanted to take this moment to share with you all what that something is… JESUS.

There is something so noticeable, supernatural, outside of ourselves, unexplainable, big, strong, powerful, fulfilling, and true that comes over you in the moments you genuinely decide to open yourself up to the LORD.

It might sound like something too good to be true. It might sound like a fairy tale to some, it might even sound unimaginable, but it’s TRUE.

God wants to fill us with love, truth, peace, wisdom, passion, goodness, and kindness.
He wants to take the weight of our natural self and lighten the load.
He desires to give us rest in the midst of chaos.

But we fight it.

We refuse it.

We deny His desires.

We ignore His abilities.

We keep ourselves bound.

With or without knowing we keep ourselves in this fight against the light because we are afraid of doing something different, we fear the unknown, we pull away from love or peace or help because we feel we don’t deserve it or we feel like we will never really get it.

Haven’t you ever noticed just how easy it is to believe a lie than the truth.

When we live in a society that feeds us lies, and creates generations hidden behind filters, it becomes hard to see the truth as a possibility or even hard to know that what we are believing is a lie, but there is another option.
There is another way. There is actual LIFE waiting for us.

And maybe this all just sounds like more words to read. However, when you know who you are and how you’ve felt for so long and then decide to let Jesus in, the evidence will become so clear.

When your default is sadness and He turns that into a heart that feels ready to burst with joy.

When your default is insecurity and He turns that into a loving knowing of who you are in His eyes.

When your default is confusion and He opens your eyes to the decisions that will bring your life peace.

The evidence will speak for itself.

But He is here, calling out to YOU.
Asking you to seek Him and find out, Knock on His door today and sit with Him with an open heart and see if He doesn’t take your heart and fill it with an overflowing and unexplainable love.

God is good.

God is love.

God’s plans for your life are NOT for your harm but to give you a hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)

You’ve tried everything else, now come and rest in Jesus and you will not be disappointed.

It is usually at the end of ourselves that we find Him and that is because we are willing to find a way out.
Be willing.

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me.

Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit away from me.

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and sustain in me a willing spirit.”

Psalm 51:10-12
